关于成绩
Q: 我会在什么时候收到孩子的成绩单?
A: 学校每年有三次颁发正式成绩单: 12月、3月、和6月。一般有两次家长会:一次在秋季,一次在春季。有些学校会出期中或非正式成绩单。
Q: 何为家长会?
A: 家长与老师见面讨论孩子的学习进度,设定目标并交换信息。家长可以谈论任何有关孩子教育方面的问题。家长会是家长与老师沟通的一个重要良机。想了解成绩报告、家长会的日期及其它事项,请查看有关学校日历或简讯。
Q: 为何我的孩子没有成绩等级?
A: 学生在下列情况下不会有成绩等级:
- 3年级或以下
- 英语能力很弱
- 其英语技能未达到可以明白同年级英文内容的水平

Q: 谁会有成绩等级?
A: 大多数4到12年级的学生及以达到同年级水平要求的学生便可获得有分数的成绩。
Q: 那些学生没有成绩等级?
A: 幼儿园到3年级的学生,上特别课程的学生及 ESL/ EAL 初级班的学生没有成绩等级。
Q: 4到12年级的 ESL/ EAL 学生得到的是什么成绩?
A: 如果学生满足同年级水平要求,便获得成绩等级:A、B、C+、C、C- 或 I。如果学生尚未达到年纪水平要求,他们便会得到一个星号或 N/A 【不适用】。他们还会得到一个有关学习习惯的评定:G (Good – 良好)、S (Satisfactory – 满意) 或 N (Needs Improvement – 需要提高)。ESL/ EAL 小学生出成绩单外另外附有一份 ESL/ EAL 成绩单。该成绩单概括其英语的听力、口语、阅读和写作的进度。
Q: 上 ESL/ EAL 班是否会影响学生完成高中学业或继续深造?
A: 不会,完成高中学业没有年龄限制。大多数教育局都设有成人及超龄学生 (19岁以上) 的高中教育进修课程。若有疑问,请与您孩子的辅导员沟通。
Q: 让孩子尽快离开 ESL/ EAL 班而去修读他正常年级水平的课程是否会更好?
A: 得到 ESL/ EAL 辅助并从而培养了良好英语能力的学生与过早离开 ESL/ EAL 班的学生相比,他们在正规班里的表现较好。研究显示,要在学业上精通一门外语通常需要5年或更长的时间。过早离开 ESL/ EAL 班会给学生造成压力,并有可能延缓学生的进步。设立 ESL/ EAL 斑的目的是为了让 ESL/ EAL 学生奠定良好的英语基础从而确保他们能在同年级水平的班级内取得成功。ESL/ EAL 班所教授的是与学科内容如数学、社会学和科学等有关的专业英语。与其他 ESL/ EAL 学生一起学习,可帮助每个学生认识到自己与他人一样,都在面对同样的困难。大多数ESL/ EAL 学生可以和同年级正规班的学生上体育课、艺术和音乐课。这些科目对英语要求较低,学生通常成绩都很好。

Level 2 - Beginning English Only Students in Level 2 are able to understand varying amounts of everyday English. They are able to repeat or read simple, routine phrases or sentences but cannot yet use the language to communicate their thoughts and opinions. 2级 – 开始学习英语 2级水平的学生能够理解一定数量的日常用语。学生能够阅读或者复述简单、常见的词组或者句子,但是不能够用英语表达想法和意见。 |
ESL Level 1/2 (Non-Credit) Students who are new to English or who are experiencing difficulty with any aspect of English (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) should register for this beginner-level course. |

Level 3 - Developing English Students in Level 3 can communicate in English but do so with difficulty using simple speech, gestures and an occasional word from their native language. These students have difficulty with correct grammatical usage in their oral and written language, and very often omit words or incorrectly form their phrases and sentences. Their reading level is often two or more grades below their age level and they find textbook reading difficult. 3级 – 发展英语 3级水平的学生能够用英语交流,但是只能使用简单的词汇和动作并且偶尔会出现母语的单词。学生在口语和写作中会有语法错误,并且经常省略单词或者使用错误的词汇或句式。他们的阅读水平比他们所处的年级要低1-2年,并且他们在阅读课文上有困难。 |
ESL Level 3 (Non-Credit) This intermediate-level course places emphasis on reading skills, writing, vocabulary development and oral language. A student registering for this course should know the basic verb tenses, should be able to write simple sentences and should be successful with guided paragraphs. |

Level 4 - Expanding English Students in Level 4 have little difficulty communicating their ideas in English. Students at this level, however, still do not fully control some basic grammatical structures in their spoken and written English. Often they are still reading at a level somewhere below their age group. 4级 – 扩展英语 4级水平的学生能够很好地用英语表达他们的想法。然而处于这一级别的学生在口语和写作中仍不能完全掌握基本的语法结构。通常学生的阅读水平仍低于他们所处的年级。 |
ESL Level 4 (Non-Credit) In this advanced-level course, the focus is on reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The student registering for this course should be able to write compound and complex sentences, develop a paragraph and have some knowledge of literary terms and their application. ESL Level 4 must be taken concurrently with ESL Canadian Studies 10. ESL Canadian Studies (Credit) This course is designed to prepare advanced ESL learners to enter Social Studies 10. ESL Canadian Studies 10 must be taken concurrently with ESL Level 4. |

Level 5 – Consolidating English Students in Level 5 demonstrate near-native proficiency in English. 5级 – 巩固英语 5级水平的学生能掌握近乎本地人水平的英语。 |
ESL Skills 10 (Non-Credit) This literature-based course is designed to prepare advanced ESL learners to enter English 10. ESL Skills 10 must be taken concurrently with ESL Composition 11. ESL Composition 11 (BA) (Credit) This writing course will give advanced ESL students the needed skills and practice to be successful in English 10. ESL Composition 11 must be taken concurrently with ESL Skills 10. |
