在温哥华寓教于乐的教育体系下， 孩子们一般都会觉得九、十年级还早， 等到十二年纪努努力就可以进入大学。 可从最近一年的大学申请看来， 想要进入一所好的大学， 并不是一件很容易的事情！有许多孩子从九年级就开始参加各种竞赛和活动， 来尽早确定一个努力的目标和方向；然而更多孩子是拖到十二年级申请大学时， 才发现成绩单没有达到大学的入学要求。从今年的大学申请看来， 十年级和十一年级的英文成绩在申请大学时也被列入考察项并且占有一部分很重要的比例， 因此10-11年纪的家长应该更加紧密的与学校和孩子沟通， 及时了解学生的学习情况并且跟进大学的申请信息。 尽早给自己设立一个目标和方向， 从而把十、十一年纪的课程成绩提高到大学的入学标准。 以下是为10-12 年纪的同学们整理的一些大学有关信息以及活动：
滑铁卢大学计算机专业的开放日活动： 为了鼓励计算机专业的性别多样化，滑铁卢大学专门为九、十年级的女同学们准备了一个为期一周的开放日活动， 从5月11号都5月18号。如果你对数学和计算机专业感兴趣， 可以在滑铁卢大学官网的Career Centre 进行申请，注册费用为$150，包含机票以及食宿费用。 截止日期为星期一， 2019年2月25日。
UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO COMPUTER SCIENCE WORKSHOP FOR YOUNG WOMEN, MAY 11 TO MAY 18 – FANTASTIC opportunity! – The CEMC Workshop is a week-long event at the University of Waterloo to encourage gender diversity in the field of computer science. Offered to Grade 9 or 10 females who have an interest in mathematics, but little or no exposure to computer science. Total cost to the student: $150 registration fee; air fare, accommodation, meals and other expenses are included at no extra cost. The week’s events include introductory programming, lectures, labs and hands-on activities as well as social activities. BCIT BIOTECHNOLOGY CAREER EXPLORATION – Open to students in Grades 10, 11 & 12 with an interest in science, scientific research, and in a biotechnology-related career. Spring Workshop now planned: April 29 – May 3/19. Students must commit to the entire week, which requires missing classes at PMSS for the week. Your application must be approved by a Science teacher; submit approved and completed applications to Ms Truax in the Career Centre by March 8/19. POST SECONDARY INSTITUTES/TRANSCRIPTS–FOR ALL GRADE 12 STUDENTS: All students planning on attending a post-secondary institution in Fall 2019 (including IB Diploma program students), must make sure their transcript is sent to universities and colleges they have applied to, using the Ministry of Education Student Transcript Service. DEADLINES: Students who applied to UBC after December 3 must complete their UBC STS order by January 31. Students who applied to SFU and submitted an entrance scholarship application must complete their SFU STS order by January 15; students who applied to SFU and did NOT submit an entrance scholarship application must complete their SFU STS order by February 28.
